I completed my first skirt last night! I went digging through our fabric cabinet and found yards and yards of linen, cotton, seersucker, and even houndstooth that hasn't been touched in at least a year. I remember buying it, and having a goal, but such is life, right?
( It wasn't so hard, but hand-stitching is a pain in the ass. )
I have a wrap dress in mind as my next creation, but I also have a zillion patterns just waiting for my attention, so we'll see who wins the fight.

Today was my first foray into sewing. I had made pillows when I was younger--who didn't--but until now I've been anti-sewing. My mom practically begged me to learn; she's had a sewing machine waiting for me for about six years. And until a few weeks ago, I had no intentions of ever learning how to even put down a presser foot.
Now, I own lots of Amy Butler patterns and even more Heather Bailey and moda fabric.

I used the Amy Butler Swing Bag pattern (www.amybutlerdesign.com). The fabric is all by moda. The bow, which reminds my mom of ice cream, can be removed. I fully intend on using it both in my hair and around my waist in the coming months.
I just like being able to see to the bottom of my purse. It's big, but the openness on either side allows a lot of light in. Plus, it's adorable.
I'm going back to the Olde Green Cupboard tomorrow to buy the paint-by-number-esque fabric I've had my eye on (high-waisted circle skirt?) and perhaps some others for the Stash 'n' Dash bags. I also have Amy Butler's lotus fabric and Heather Bailey's chrysanthemum waiting for some inspiration. Might as well get in line, ladies.

After trying out many other blog sites, I've come back to livejournal to keep track of my crafts and such. So hello! Hi. Hopefully this site will be filled with purses and clothes and cookies and fun stuff like that, but more than likely I'll forget I was being productive about three weeks in. I need support!
